This joke by Pynchon is too cool.  This episode in GR (including the events 
down under) is one of GR's best, on many levels.  Does white shit look 
whiter than black shit?  What about the rest of what's under the skin?  And 
when the world down under begins to shake, boom-boom, boom-boom, is that 
rosebud being violated?
