Who is the heir to Thomas Pynchon?

from what i've heard, steve erickson is also considered as worthy  
heir. although i liked "amnesiascope" and "days between stations" i  
don't find TRP and erickson that similar - just a superficial opinion  
based on my memories. i guess that comparism stuff
about x being the new y is  really just the result of desperate  
editors having to fill the blurbs
