Article in today's (new 'Berliner' format) Guardian mentions GR:
"I first came across the strip when I was hitchhiking across the US a year
after the Nixon resignation, a 2lb copy of Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow
weighing down my backpack. I was in America because, well, wow! America!"

Wonder what percentage of Pynchon fans read Doonesbury, and vice versa?
There was quite a debate on the paper's website in the wake of its
cancellation in the new version of the 'G2' review section, which resulted
in the strip being reinstated. I only glance over it every now and then. I
suppose it's generally regarded as being fairly liberal politically, though
Trudeau is on record as describing the US as being "at war" in Iraq...
Personally, I prefer Steve Bell's fantastic 'If' strip.
