Oh, but this is by no means specious, no matter what your theology. This is
VERY MUCH at the heart of Pynchon's explorations via fiction. The matter is
NOT decided.
The male preying mantis's (and maybe your) demise is required by this
present design. The question is not so much whether a designer, but of what
nature...
