The Stones of Summer

Has anyone here read The Stones of Summer by Dow Mossman?  It was
published in 1972 and I vaguely recollect hearing of that title around
then.

But today I'm off to the used book stores to track it down, because
last night I watched an extraordinary documentary movie called Stone
Reader.  It's by a guy named Mark Moskowitz, who started the book when
he was a kid and couldn't get into it.  Then as an adult he read it,
and was amazed by it.  Having found out that the book was out of print
and no one seemed to remember Mossman, he goes on a quest to find him.
 It's a great movie even without having read the book, and the movie
tells remarkably little about what's actually in the book.

But now I have to read the book.  The movie, btw, is available on DVD.
