Pynchon's niece/falling standard of public....yadda,yaddha,yaddha,yaddha

narrative archetypes,

it's all about the archetypes; the 'plumber'/'workman',
'private-eye'/'voyeuristic neighbour', girlfriend/boyfriends'
best-friend/sister,
'stableboy-meets-austere-matriach/crazy-soon-to-be-disinherited-daughter'

Then there's the tonality/contrast issue between the
music/setting/act-being-performed (why either muzak or
guitar-wah-fuelled-funk or euro-techno?)...

...parody and satire....

Given today's academic climate, i'm sure there's a whole growth industry out
there. ahem. well, if Harvard are charging fees for this --
http://www.newstatesman.com/200604030010 -- then anything's possible.

sorry about the awful innuendo. No way of write about this mentally forbids
them. No matter how I edit this email at least three seem inevitable.
