Difference is there is no continuum twixt shit & shinola, like there is 
between pulp and lit. Warlock may contain elements derived from  the pulps 
but it does more with them than sell a hod load of books. Pynchon has 
followed the same track, but gone a whole lot further, combining warping 
and mutating pulp conventions, but tending to display the same weakness, 
constructed as opposed to evolved characters.
