He was a pretty great ass, though.

I hear people put Gore Vidal and Norman Mailer on the same level a
lot, and pretty much everyone I've known in real life has said they're
overrated and rather awkward with their wording.  I keep almost
picking up Executioner's Song, and I know I will one day (especially
after seeing Cremaster 1 which is about Gary Gilmore's lineage, sort
of...  Norman Mailer plays Harry Houdini in it - Matthew Barney seems
to think that there is a good possibility that Houdini was Gilmore's
grandfather or great grandfather or something, anyways, great movie).
