I, from what I've seen, think he's a wonderful and, in Mexico, important man,
but Carlos Fuentes is not a good writer. Try, anyone, to get through The
Old Gringo, which stars, no less, Pancho Villa and Ambroise Bierce (!) and is
less than two hundred pages (of the most tedious prose imaginable). You fuck
that up, you're off the list.
