I gotta start out with: To each his own. If the violence gets to you, it's
not gunna get any lighter. Far from it. I personally think it's
beautifully written, both the phrasing and the descriptions. There's plenty
of development, but you'll always stay "outside" the characters.
Some might think Blood Meridian is nothing more than gratuitous blood and
guts. I think otherwise. It is a dark mythic dream. And the judge is its
white whale.
