Yeah, it's well written (is the guy a MacArthur fellowship holder?
possibly)... but it's just variations on a theme of scalping, interspersed
with bludgeoning hints that the big bald guy is the devil.... sitting around
the fire like a foreign deity ONCE AGAIN... struck me as heavy handed, and
the ending really really disappointed, though I couldn't see where it was
going to go that could be satisfying, because there isn't much plot.
I finished it just to finish it, even though there is plenty of good writing
there, 'tis true.
