Richard Powers "Goldbug Variations" was a real turn-on for me---particularly as I'm a touch obsessed in Glenn Gould and his legacy. Gould's famous recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations manages to be an important element in the novel without the author ever specifically mentioning the name of the pianist.
