Good point. I'm only sorry Pynchon made his appearance(s) on The
Simpsons long after it had gone off the boil. I'd say his appearance
must surely have been based on his affection for the show as it used to
be, sort of like how they give great actors Oscars for not terribly good
films, because the idiots had failed to recognise their great films at
the time.
