Two of the fiv(v\n)e Pynchon books that I own have come from book shops of
the second-hand variety.

Vineland - first edition trade paperback, which I'm sure was read atleast
once before I got my paws on it.

Mason & Dixon - first edition hardcover, pristine dust jacket and plastic
cover, which I'm sure was simply used as a paper weight for a few years
before being replaced, perhaps by the new Vollmann book.

In fact, one can get a brand - hard(spanking)cover - new copy of Mason &
Dixon from Chapters.ca for no less than $6.99 Canadian - but no more either,
excluding taxes of course. As a show of good faith that I don't actually
work for Chapters, or support Heather Reisman in her noble quest to
erradicate ma and pa book shops north of the 49th, I won't post the direct
link.

Chris
