Doorstop tradition revived in Russia

Does anyone here think there's any possibility that a 1500 page novel would 
sell out its first printing in four weeks in the USA?  Still, we don't know 
how large the first printing was.

And of course anyone being hailed as "the new Tolstoy" is going to sound 
brilliant.  But then again how many of us have been disgusted or 
disappointed over someone saying Author X was the new Pynchon?
