I'm not generally one for solid statements given that often such
things are a matter of opinion, but as someone who grew up from being
a hardcore Robert Anton Wilson fan due to Illuminatus!, Schroedinger's
Cat, and Masks of the Illuminati, to someone who read Quantum Physics
and Cosmic Trigger with a reaction of utter disillusionment, I'll say
that Crowley was primarily a dingbat (and I've read Book of Lies) and
not much else... from Crowley spawned Scientology (If you're confused
I could supply a link), anyways, and I apologize if anyone on the list
is a Scientologist, but that shit is messed up and you should be aware
of it. I read all ten books of Mission: Earth! when I was a kid, that
shit gets more freaky, anti-government and sadistic as it goes on. I
believe it was in book 5 that the main character is imprisioned by a
militant lesbian who uses him in sexual rites involving a cheese
grater and mustard. I was flying back from Utah some time mid-high
school reading book one of the series and thought it quite amusing,
but my reaction by the end... I think I still have flashbacks.

But thank god for the Principia Discordia, anyways. I guess that
wouldn't have really happened without Crowley (nor, perhaps, the
Church of the Subgenius), and, for that matter, that utterly awesome
Osbourne song.
