Well having stumbled upon GR in a public library in the mid 70's, never
having heard of the gent before, and then having read CoL49 and finding my
family name, and then picking up V, and not much liking it then, I was
surprised to find upon a rereading many years later that V. is the best
after GR. An amazing book actually to have been written by a by his own
account shallow young man.
As for Heinlein, any of you that have adolescent sons, by all means steer
them to Citizen of the Galaxy and Glory Road.

I've been re-reading V. lately too, definitely recommend it, especially for
anyone who, like me, didn't really enjoy it the first time. I found V. far
and away the hardest to read of all Pynchons, but now I'm finding it a
revalation, it's almost like having a new Pynchon book to read.
