The local Brookline Booksmith mentioned the new Pynchon book in its
weekly email, featuring our own pynchonoid and p-list in it:

"Thomas Pynchon is a big tease. Ever since Mason & Dixon came out in
1997, devoted readers have been buzzing about what he might be working
on next. Then last month, at long last, an online retailer who will
not be named put up a page listing Untitled Thomas Pynchon to be
published in December, and included a synopsys of the novel that was
purportedly written by Pynchon himself. This set the blogosphere's
keyboards on fire - Was it a hoax? Was it a marketing ploy? Was it the
real thing? Was it a mistake? Then the controversial synopsys
disappeared from the page. Apparently the synopsys was indeed written
by Pynchon, but was not supposed to be released to the public this
early (so, of course, it was deleted but you can still read it here
and here and here). Now we can confirm that the new novel, Against the
Day, will be published in December, and you can read what
may-or-may-not-be an excerpt here."
