The more I think about it, the easier it is to see the context, not as Watergate, but the whole pranksterism/anarchist hippie-inflected left, thus giving us a tight connection with Vineland. So I'm thinking Diggers, Merry Pranksters, Abbie Hoffman, Allen Ginsburg, SDS. Going by the whole six degrees of connection, there's Richard Farina, Bob Dylan and Allen Ginsberg. And if that's the connection, any wonder why he'd be paranoid?

I'm hoping my store gets a pre-publication copy---a PROMO!!!!!! about a month before release date. Got me some real incentive to stay on the bosses good side these days . . . .
