I thought the same, back in the day, but there was a time when people weren't used to changing email addresses, e.g. I was accused of not being myself, but was eventually verified by another old-timer who lives nearby and whose word has never been doubted; hell, I don't even recall his ever being enmeshed in one of our periodic flame-wars.

No, I can't imagine anyone pretending to be me, either. We have had people who were accused of pretending to be someone other than themselves...
