a perspective I'd sort of like to see in a 9-11 novel is the sort of matter-of-factness of which Kurt Vonnegut is a master:
eg "this is what he made [Kilgore Trout]: doodly-squat"
something like,
"this is how events proceeded after two planes brought down three large and heavily peopled buildings in the middle of the most carefully guarded air space in the world:" and then some earthy, concise characterization, replete with wryness and rue and deadeye-dick accurate...yet thought-provoking and quite gentle really in its outlook and suggestions
he did it with Dresden already, I guess, but I like his perspective
