This seems entirely likely. I was just riffing on the sexual/
political liberation tie in.
But I am reminded of how sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll and the
sexual revolution are said to have saved Hollywood. Good bye Doris
Day, Hello Bette Midler and waking up on the 50-yard line. And from
