Most probably it has been mentioned before, but just in case: here you can 
watch a long tv feature of Harold Bloom talking about literature and 
grumbling about the deterioration of contemporary cultural scene. He 
mentiones Pynchon several times and talks at large about Cormac McCarthy. If 
3 hours with Bloom is not too much for you, the video is worth checking out. 
(I, for one, prefer to watch it in instalments).
