As children the two were neighbors to and played with  Harper Lee the  
latter recalls fondly.

I first heard of Capote when his very young, almost toy-like,  
likeness graced the cover of Life magazine in the early post-war era.

The article within featured three young authors, Capote, Gore Vidal,  
and Calder Willingham, all of whom were showing considerable promise.
