rare GR editions

I was talking to a book collector recently who
specializes in 20th century stuff, word is that
Melanie Jackson "recently" (in the past couple of
years, the story goes) contacted Viking to find out if
they still had the original GR manuscript, they did,
it's back in Pynchon's possession. 

Some of those Pynchon first editions just sit on
Abebooks.com at those prices, but you see some ads
disappear and new ads appear,  there's a brisk trade
in these books and related items (advance reading
copies, pre-publication galleys) right now as interest
in Pynchon builds in the run-up to Against the Day. 

I also heard that Pynchon is taking steps to limit the
number of advance reading copies and galleys for ATD. 

Sorry I can't point to any published source for this,
but it does come from a guy who is currently investing
a significant sum of money in Pynchon collectibles,
expecting a "spike" in prices after ATD appears.
