You may be on to something. After reading On the Road, the road in V becomes
much more significant to me--as well as the sewer and that sort of thing.
But not just that, but Slothrop's similarities to Dean--especially the
disapearing end sort of bit --dispersing I should say. THe style of mumbo
jumbo (only Reed ive read so far--damn bookstores dont seem to carry him
bunch of fascists commie rats as big as cats) seems very similar to GR.
Always wondered, I have, what bit of Reed the old Pynchon or Pynchon's
narrator refers to on page god knows somewhere in the middle. What was out
then? Style , was it the same? How do you see Mumbo Jumbo --the old MJ-- as
similar to Vineland--
