Ellroy schmellory

I couldn't take him seriously after a friend of mine loaned me American
Tabloid, after a few pages I had to ask "is this guy for real"? There was
also an unpleasant incident much later when I dismissed Ellroy as a hack to
someone else who, I soon discovered, was a huge fan of his. Whatever floats
your boat I guess...
