....seems to contradict, to say the least, this:

"Did somebody really suggest that a new album by Dylan
might as artistically significant as Pynchon's
upcoming novel? No way. No pop song or album has the
ability to communicate the depth and scope of
experience that a novel can communicate."

...is incredibly rich, bordering on the insane. NOBODY suggested that "a
new album by Dylan
might as artistically significant as Pynchon's upcoming novel". WHat
happened was that you seemed to suggest that someone had suggested that.
They hadn't. Being a DYlan fan, I'm intrigued by the possible meeting(s)
which may have occurred between Pynchon & Bob. Seems not may others are so
intrigued which is fine. BUt I never made any comparison betwen the relative
worth of Dylan vs Pynchon, popular music vs literature, etc.

I hope *that* is clear.

Cheers
JC
