Very much appreciated, David. I also believe it is "Pancho was a bandit,
boys", not "Pancho was a bandit boy", which adds another twist to this
endlessly fascinating song.

Among my most cherished relics I have a copy of "The Late Great Townes
Van Zandt"-CD with Townes' autograph and his trademark drawing of a road
and a cactus. A few years ago, two or three years after van Zandt's
death, Michael Hurley played the song for a group of twenty to thirty
people in a small club in Bonn. He did not comment upon it, but it was a
moving tribute.

I know Tracy Grammer from her collaboration with the late Dave Carter. I
am especially fond of "Tanglewood Tree".

Dave, if you are interested in getting to know more songs by van Zandt
besides the Tindersticks' cover of the devastating "Kathleen": I think
the place to start is "Live at the Old Quarter".

Thomas
