Judging by the symbols, the two legends on the seal (above and below) are
identical to my eye, so we could impose the iceland spar doubling thing
here, if we wish. As for my 'fault', well, I had though it would be
something even more prosaic, like 'The State of Tibet' or something, and to
discover some 'great truth' never crossed my mind, although nowadays it's
quite possible to make a stylised stamp or seal, in which it would writteb,
say, 'Against the Day' in Tibetan or the transcription of 'Thomas Pynchon'
into these characters, like they offer you to transcribe your name into
Arabic letters in some touristy places. That was pure sportsmanship on my
part, I just wanted to know what's there. BTW, I contacted something like 5
Tibet Culture organisations, but received only one response so far. What
really is interesting, that among all the stamps, seals, coins, etc. we
still haven't found a 100% identical image. May be some kind of antiquarian
curiosity from Pynchon's private collection, who knows. A letter sent by
Pynchon to his readers stamped by a Tibetan seal...
