Terrance, quite a clever fellow of long standing p-list presence,
once said that Vineland is About Labor, and this
pronouncement became a sort of standing joke--one that at least some
of us actually "got."
The thing you have to understand about Terrance is that he doesn't
always explain himself in great detail,
doesn't spell everything out, dot all the i's and cross all the t's.
The truth of the matter (and the joke) of course is that EVERYTHING
is About Labor--labor properly understood.
Everything concerning man at least, not to exclude woman, is About
Labor.
Marx, who was right about some things anyway, recognized this,
calling man Homo faber--man the doer.
And so what Wick Does is toss bombs, what Vibe Does is make money,
what Kit Does is equations,
what Lake does is . . . oh, never mind, she does a lot of things . . . .
