ATD 582, again Venetian dialect?

There is this strange word 'foschetta' used at least twice by P. I have in 
my dictionary only 'foschia' meaning haze or mist. The sentence is 'the 
hopeful young creature would be enfolded in the irreversible darkness of 
midnight beneath the foschetta'. Would it be haze, mist or something else 
(you never know with dialects) ?
