Never Let Me Go

Good post - thanks.

My own pre-AtD cleansing ritual was Cormac McCarthy's The Road, which in
many ways is very similar to Ishiguro's novel - bleak minimalism - and like
you I found it kind of liberating to clear the head (and the sinuses) before
engaging with Pynchon's complexities. Right now I'm in the midst of a
POST-AtD cleansing ritual, which involves crime novels, Donald Duck- and
Tintin-comics, DVDs, and plenty of sugar. More virtuous persons than me
turned right back to page 1 after reaching page 1085, but I prefer to let
AtD settle for a month or two before starting again.
