Yet More New (and, Incidentally, Delicious) Pynchon Verbiage!

This letter is really a gem! Apart from the novels, this seems to be one of 
Pynchon's most important descriptions of his own poetics in a long time.That 
Ruskin quote should be required reading for any reader of Pynchon's 
historical fiction, and I suspect that an embroidered version of the quote 
may hang above Pynchon's own writing desk (and typewriter! I wonder whether 
AtD was typed on this machine...).
Hmmm - writers as chimpanzees: I guess Pynchon's fondness for bananas has 
finally been explained. I wonder whether he keeps his banana labels as close 
to hand as Hogan Slothrop...
