ATD: first sentence

I used to work in a bookstore, a couple of different
times, often watched the customers pick up a book,
leaf through to and look at the first page, then
quickly close the book and put it down. I assumed
they only had time to read the first sentence or
perhaps a bit more before choosing to move on.
Since the books hadn't yet been purchased, rarely did
they get thrown across the room.
