Nothing but postage stamps, eh? And we know how
unimportant they are in the Pynchon oeuvre.

;)

Seriously, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to dismiss a
connection having to do with postage stamps, no matter
where it ultimately may lead or not.

At the risk of starting an argument, I don't quite
understand the need to pooh-pooh so overwhelmingly
Robin's rather gentle suggestions of ideas that are
pretty fun to think about in this pynchonoid Aether
currently flowing through the universe. Do we really
need lectures about rigorous scientific thinking and
the dangers of funny ideas -- I mean, even if Pynchon
has left those out of this book, does that mean
readers have to automatically provide them for each
other? Are the hard-headed scientists among us so
threatened by fringe science? I suggest that
Pynchon's not, he seems to love it, has fun with for
several hundred pages and over the course of many
years, it appears, looking only at Against the Day,
not to mention the rest.
