Dave, if you need to, get off the list. Or give it a break. You'll be
sorely missed, as hopefully enough people here have said, but everyone
will have to respect your right to deal with whatever needs to be dealt
with. Remember that there are plenty o' P-listers wishing you best and
I'm sure would help you out any way they can; if there are others who
aren't helping your situation then sometimes it's best to just give them
a rest for a while. Listen to the King: Take Care of Business. Then come
on back here.

You know, David, I actually could go on about that in particular if you
insist on it (note also teh global thermonucelar holocaust which amy or
may not happen beyond that "last delta-t"), with perhaps even greater
evidence now for this as a general textual move of Pynchon's, for
reasons as implied below, but i'll leave it up to you and Doug and maybe
Paul and Keith and Robt. (where he?) and MalignD and Terrance and ...
to bicker over, if y'all really want to right now.
Me, I'd planned to be done with the new novel by Christmas, but am
barely a quarter of teh way through it, not in the least I think because
i'm pretty damn sure that, maybe the new David Lynch film aside, when
i'm done with it, that's going to be all I have left to me. Having been
under "observation" or whatever recently out of some (and, when it
comes right down to it, likely justified, given that, had I not simply
fallen asleep after deleting myself from the virtual world, i'd at least
have spent some time staring into the abyss over the edge of a
neighborhood bridge of some not insignificant clearance) worry that I
might be in some danger from my own miserable self, well ...
Well, fuck it, I have some serious goodbyes to compose here, there's no
point in me wasting what little time I may have left on you ...
