Thaks for the link, Otto. Just read it, and there's some good stuff wedged
in among the jargon. 

Be warned that the title is oblique: she doesn't get to the
Rossini-Beethoven opposition until the very end, and doesn't deal at all
with Pynchon's own "bouncy little" lyrics, with their rich strata of
nostalgia and sentimentality.
