Thomas Pynchon releases Against the Day. Did I see you camping out all night 
in front of Barnes & Noble? Or was that just the wraparound from the PS3 
line? Louis Menand’s review in the NewYorker almost made me cancel my 
subscription. Look, Lou, you’ve got some serious literary skills, but you’re 
no Thomas Pynchon, not even a Jonathan Franzen. Check yourself before you 
wreck yourself. Any novel with a dog that reads Henry James is awesome. 
Sadly, when I approached the desk at Barnes & Noble, I was greeted with 
"Thomas who?" To which I responded, "The most influential writer in 
America." Which was rejoined with "Aaaa—mmmrrrrr—iiiiii—kkkkaaaaa?" "
