Red-spined AtD?

Just got AtD for Christmas, and only kinda skimmed the extensive pre-release
dissection of the cover, but on you guys's copies, is Against the Day Thomas
Pynchon printed once with one shadow, or once with two shadows?  I thought
there was only a heavy black and then a faint echo behind it, but then on
the morning of the 25th, lo, there were three texts on my copy.  What gives?
