Tech writing! Um, Elaine, is that a Pynch-ref, or are you really a tech
writer? (You can’t be a tech writer; you used pink type!) I’ve always felt
a little outside of the librarian/academic lit-crit axis that seemed to me
to be the basis of the Pynch-list, and I’ll admit to occasionally feeling
something like I imagine TRP must have felt when he was tech writing, as it
is work that is fundamentally conservative. So: I’d like to find out how
many of “us” are tech writers (or even worse, are engineers). For what it's
worth, I think that we shed the anonymity here a long time ago, so it’s no
longer that post-modern Last Tango in Paris no history game. I do kinda
miss the pseudonyms, and even the accusations that they caused, but I’m sure
that’s just me.

Congratulations, Glenn!  Maybe you can use your recuperation time to help me
find a new tech writing contract!
