I think MalignD came closest with the suggestion of
parody. The snappy, chirpy, upbeat tone, the
careening around betwixt as many proper names as
possible, the enticing and/or "helpful" hints ...
This is not to say that such elements WON'T be in the
novel, or that it won't be germane, fruitful, even, to
bicker about, challenge, even, the authorial (and,
presumably--presumably--authoritative) caveats ...
