Context more than its content made me think right off the bat that it
was something not written by Pynchon. It appeared in the way hoax-stuff
usually does appear here. There was the simultaneous Return of the
Whore of Babylon. Then it disappeared from the Amazon page. Then it got
copied into an Amazon reader discussion-page. Etc.

I guess we'll see, and I could be wrong and you and Paul could be
right. No big deal. It does sound similar to the inside cover flap
description of M&D, though that obviously wasn't written by Pynchon
either. And the M&D one knows who the central characters are, which
this one doesn't seem to.

All in all, if it is the flap blurb for the new book, it's actually
much weaker than the M&D one imho. I agree with Mal about the utter
triteness of that bit about "sometimes it's their lives that pursue
them".

But I'm happy to wait for the book rather than try to second-guess its
author.
