You're right, of course. The only official word so far has been the  
press release from Tracy Locke: "There is not yet a title, and we're  
not releasing information about the subject matter at this point,"  
though Mike's source (Ann Godoff: "Chicago, 1897" setting) seems rock  
solid. Pynchon must've gone with Godoff to Penguin when she left Random  
House.

It's surprising no-one has tried contacting Melanie Jackson. It's a  
shame about that debacle here a couple of weeks back.

I wonder whether that "owner" of the pynchon-list might have some  
insider goss, now that Murthy's no longer on board. You'd think he or  
she'd at least be interested in the new book.
