More Anti Lit Theory Stuff

Yes, this is an interesting problem. I was an English major ant UC Berkeley.
In their department (supposedly the best English departmnet in the nation)
there a heavy emphasis on original and close analysis as well as, in my
opinion, a completely out of place sort of "logic." The problem is that they
don't seem to realize that someone clever enough can (relatively)
effectively argue almost anything about anything. If one adds the smug and
self-important headnodding seemingly inherent in academia, it's easy to
arrive at the kind of ridiculousness exemplified in this article.
Fuck man, I had a professor of lit theory who somehow managed to lecture for
an hour and a half every day without saying a goddam thing. But since he
read Derrida and used a lot of big words somebody (presumably several people
in administration) was fooled into believing he was actually saying
something. He was completely incapable of distinguishing information from
noise.
