If bad was wanted (for whatever reason) Pynchon could have produced
something ARTISTICALLY bad (like the Eumaeus scene in Ulysses) but
such would probably have worked at cross purposes to a book blurb.
Pynchon's normal modus operandi is NOT commerce.,
