This is how I feel about comic books, esp. since The
Watchmen, no matter how much more sophisticated the
art and writing and printing technologies have become
(though there's just as much crap as ever as well),
they're just not good like when I was a kid. And I'm
right, dammit ...
Cf. 70s UHF evening/weekend television vs. "classic"
movies on cable. When's the last time you saw a Henry
Aldrich film every Friday night (followed by soem
Republic serial or another), a Toho monster film every
Saturday night, a Ma and Pa Kettle and/or Blondie
every Sunday morning, or a Swede made up as a Chinaman
(sic) every Sunday afternoon? Sgt. Preston of the
Yukon? The Bowery Boys? Huh? Huh? Okay, then ...
