Pynchon the Guest Musician?

I didn't realize B"P"P was involved.  At long last a
copy of his "Soul Drums" 45 has wound its way to me. 
There's a vinyl reissue of the LP as well out there,
but, well, nothing hits like a nice, shiny vintage 45,
so ... sampled on Beck's "Devil's Haircut" ...
