Advice for newbies

I believe Google is kept out so as to protect e-mail
addresses from being harvested by spammers.  I think
this came up when someone tried to mirror the site
elsewhere, and Murthy and/or Oliver objected.  I'm all
for that.  A despite those "{omitted]"s, you CAN stll
find e-mail addresses.  I know, I do it occasionally. 
But we could use a better serach function ...
