Well, I didn't think you'd find a problem with connections, considering you 
just said that an author like Joyce (or Pynchon) would choose an

"ambiguous title without considering and embracing the suggestions and 
ambiguities.  Against contains again and gain; day vs. night, the vs. a ... 
what day?  The day.  Etc."

Aren't the connections we make (or see others make) one of the approaches to 
reading text?
